"Horses change lives. They give our young people confidence
and self-esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls, they give us hope!"~Toni Robinson
It is with great pride and pleasure that we introduce our lovely horse family
to you. Some are young, some are "mature", some like to teach, some show in national competitions, two are
blind, one is nearly 40 years old! You will LOVE every one of them!
The lesson horses:
My name is Starbaby and I am 29 years old! I have spent
almost my entire life at Double Rainbow Farm. I love people more than anything but I'm also great friends with all of
the other horses. I go out everyday with my girlfriends in the pasture. Every afternoon I teach people to ride.
I love this because if I teach them well then oneday they may want to jump which is my favorite thing to do! Sometimes
I get to show and I win great ribbons and the children are happy with me. We take pictures with our
ribbons and I get a lot of hugs and kisses. I love ALL treats and I'm allowed to have them because my trainer says I
don't get pushy like everyone else. I am always a lady, love to jump, love to show and I never spook. Come see
me anytime!
You'll never believe
this when you see me now, but I was once morbidly obese. I came to Double Rainbow 9 years ago when I was just 3, with
my neck flapping over, and barely fitting into a stall, for horse camp and never left. Mrs. Sig put me on a strict diet and
in the lesson program and now I am perfect! All of the children love to ride me because I am very smooth and have
a motor with many gears. I can babysit the small children with a nice little jog, or win "Red Light, Green Light"
with the big kids when its time for some fun. I love Pony Express and jumping when I am able to. My show name is Skittles
and my barn name is Candy, but my nick name is Candice Leona. Please sneak me some cookies, carrots, or an
apple into my food bucket after your lesson.
Hi everyone! My name is Simon Birch. My trainers
and best friends just call me Simon. I have been told my whole life that I am the most perfect pony that ever lived
at Double Rainbow! When I show in horse shows I can hear everyone talking about me as I trot past. I try not to
get distracted because I love to win blue ribbons! When they talk I hear them say things like, "awwww, I love him!",
"that pony is the best mover", "what a perfect jumper!" and "look at his lead changes!".
What matters most to me is doing my best and winning great ribbons so the little children who ride me take pictures and smile
a lot. Make sure you stop by and see me! My manners are also wonderful!
Hi everyone! My name is Givenchy but everyone around the barn knows me as "GQ".
I am an Oldenburg from Germany. I have competed in the hunters in America and now I am stepping down to do the schooling
shows. The great thing about showing me would be that I win a lot of ribbons and I am so smooth to ride! My favorite
treats are peppermints and butterscotch candies! I just recently joined the school horse crew at Double Rainbow.
My last owner, Hilaree Olson, gave me to the riding school so I can teach other children and adults everything they need to
know about this amazing sport! And boy do I know a lot!!! :)
My name is Brooklyn Roads, but you can call me Squiggy - everyone
else does! It would be easier to tell you what I haven't done, but I will go ahead and tell you what I have done.
I was once a racehorse, but I didn't like it so I went to live with a young lady named Laura (who you know as Laura Sissen).
Since Laura I have owned many people but have spent the majority of my life at Double Rainbow Farm. I even owned a little
girl once named Kirby (you all know her as "Miss Kirby"). I have done the hunters and the jumpers. I
have done dressage and eventing and pony club. I have done hunter's pace competitions and I have fox hunted. What
I know best is the local shows where I am told that I am a legend. I am thrilled to be back in the game and can't wait
to show all of you what I can do!
Retired Champion Sponsorship Love horses but can't own one right now? The solution.......
If you don't have the time or resources to own a horse right now but
absolutely love them, this sponsorship program may be for you! Double Rainbow has several retired champions who have lived
a long time and get special care that is very expensive to provide - but they deserve it. We give them joint supplementation,
special diets, medications, exercise, corrective shoeing and other interventions to make their lives better in their golden
years. They have enriched our lives and the lives of hundreds of students so we feel like we should return the favor. Many
of these champions have been unable to work for years to offset their expenses.
We are starting a sponsorship program for horse lovers who want to make a difference in the lives
of these great horses. For $25 per month you can become a sponsor of the horse of your choice, be listed on our web page as
a steward and will be able to come out and spend individual time with your horse once per month for a visit, grooming, grazing
and pictures if you like. One time gifts also available! Print our Retired Champion Sponsorship on this page to
sponsor your retired champion today!

| Open Gates General and Raegan St. John |
My name is Open Gates General and I am a registered Welsh pony and this
May I will be 40 years old. I am sound in body and spirit but unlike some of the retired horses here I am able to teach
lessons but refuse to. I am a beautiful mover and a fantastic jumper but if you make too many mistakes I will jump out
of the ring (and it doesn't matter how tall the fence is!). I have always been a little grumpy and HATE to be told what
to do! You don't live as long as I have and still need tedious "instruction". I have taught hundreds
of children to ride over the years and I have won all across the country. I was a breeding stallion until the age of
seven and won National Champion in halter for Section B geldings more times than I can count. I loathe blacksmiths and
don't care much for vets and equine dentists. The dentist only checks my remaining teeth when he visits now so that
is not too bad. If you visit and hear me screaming my head off in barn 1 it is because my barn peeps are late turning
me out. What do I love? Raegan, and a few other special people.

| Hearts and Diamonds - "Ed" |
My name is Hearts and Diamonds because on my forehead is a big white heart and
on my nose is a big white diamond. My barn name is just plain "Ed". My name of Ed came from my former
profession where I was a great racehorse called Ed's Pet. I am 27 years old but I look much older (racing is a tough
sport!). I won a lot of money (they say I was a "stakes winner" - whatever that is). All I know is I
never saw any horses after we left the starting gate! I don't see or chew very well anymore and I have trouble staying
sound, but I love to be groomed once you can get me on the washrack (that is really scary to me)! I have taught hundreds
of people to ride but I have never been too fond of jumping solid jumps. My canter is the absolute best! I can
teach anyone to canter (but I can't anymore). Leaving my stall is very scary to me because I can barely see. Anything
on the ground looks like a black pit to me! I do know that I am loved though and Mrs. Sig says I have a home here
until I go to heaven.
My name is Grey W. Power but everyone calls me "Hoot". I am 28
years old, smooth to ride and a lovely mover. I worked cows before I moved to Double Rainbow Farm. I absolutely
love to be groomed. I never took a lame step until a few months ago when I injured my suspensory ligament and since
then grooming has been very scarce. While I'm stuck in the stall on "stall rest" which seems like grounding
I need your extra kind words and attention. I still wish I could go to class like all the other horses. I plan
to be back to work in a few more months but need a little extra care and attention until then. Thanks!
I am Silver Peach, everyone's favorite! You can just
call me Peach. I am actually a Dressage horse and have always hated jumping until the last couple of years. I
never thought I would have the patience to be a lesson horse but it has been okay because I get lots of treats and love from
my riders. I have learned funny tricks with my lips and head that people can't resist! I am sorry to say that
I am on stall rest due to a tendon cut and will have to be confined a few more months so please stop by to see me. I
would love to be sponsored for the months I am unable to teach.
